An Analysis of Hospitalized Burn Injuries in a Burn Care Unit of Northern Bangladesh
Published in Saudi Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (2024)
This comprehensive epidemiological study analyzed 477 cases of acute burn injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The research reveals critical insights into burn injury patterns, gender disparities (62% female), seasonal trends (40% cases in January), and severity factors. Key findings show 70% were flame burns, with females particularly vulnerable due to cooking activities. The study emphasizes the need for targeted interventions, safer cooking practices, and culturally tailored public health strategies to reduce burn injuries in Bangladesh.
